I’ve been an accepted daughter to this country and of course to this province. There is just so much in me that is honoured but I am also humbled by it. Lee is performing at the Montreal International Jazz Festival July 6, and has played a show every edition of the festival since its inception. It was a mock wedding and I was Mrs. Chickenfoot and the groom was Mr Cabbage Head. From Raisin in the Sun to Billy Holiday, I have discovered myself inside those women I played.

Her seventh album for the Justin Time label is a capsulized version of this review and features songs that were sung by Josephine Baker, Billie Holiday, Pearl Bailey, Dinah Washington, Sarah Vaughan and Ella Fitzgerald. Given her long and distinguished membership in the jazz/pop vocal community, how could it be otherwise. Her position as one of the preeminent jazz vocal song stylists is solidified by the way she does such classics as “J’ai Deux Amours” that helped make Josephine Baker the toast of Europe. Billie Holiday’s “Fine and Mellow” is not only distinguished by Lee’s singing, but by the wailing trombone of Muhammad Abdul Al-Khabyyr.
Montréal’s Queen of the Blues Dawn Tyler Watson can sing anything, as anyone who has heard her belt out her monumental rendition of Edith Piaf’sJe ne regrette rienwill attest. During communion, Ron Di Lauro played a beautifully touching version of “Body and Soul.” The music of the mass, “The Kyrie” and “Sanctus Bendictus” are from A Little Jazz Mass by Bob Chilcott.

Merely a 5-minute walk from church of perfect liberty, which was a bonus. High-speed internet access is available in the entire hotel for free. The hotel offers such room types as a deluxe room. Room had a microwave & small frig which would be useful. The cleaning people at times kept bothering us. They checked in multiple times opening doors without knocking. The lobby was far to small for the needs of the number of people who wanted to eat.
